African Organisations

Many of the wildlife species in Africa are under threat of extinction. This is due mainly to a growing human population and a big increase in demand for animal parts such as ivory and rhino horns. Different African organisations are working to protect these species and we have listed some of them below.

South Africa

The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre African Wild Dog and Cheetah.

Dyer Island Conservation Trust African penguin, Humpback dolphin, Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin, Southern Right whale, great white shark, Cape fur seal, Abalone, Cape Cormorant, Bank Cormorant, Crowned Cormorant and White-breasted Cormorant.

Zimbabwe

The African Wildlife Conservation Fund African Lion, African Wild Dog and other large carnivores.

Dambari Wildlife Trust Rhinoceros, cheetahs and small African antelopes (Duikers and mini-antelope).

Lowveld Rhino Trust Black rhinos and white rhinos.
